FINCA Pakistan’s Clients and Employees Win Accolades at 9th Citi-PPAF Micro-entrepreneurship Awards
The Citi Micro-entrepreneurship Awards has invested more than $17.3 Million in microfinance networks and institutions spanning more than 30 countries, awarding $8 Million through this program to almost 6,000 entrepreneurs worldwide. Launched in 2005, the Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards program is a signature initiative of the Citi Foundation aimed at raising awareness about the importance of microfinance in supporting the financial inclusion and economic empowerment of low-income individuals.
In Pakistan, the Citibank N.A., Pakistan and Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) have organized the Citi-PPAF Microentrepreneurship Awards annually, recognizing 320 outstanding microentrepreneurs, who by perseverance, hard work and effective utilization of microcredit, have not only changed their own lives, but also contributed to development of their communities.
The 9th Citi-PPAF Micro-entrepreneurship Awards in Pakistan organized a ceremony held at Serena, Islamabad to celebrate the achievements of outstanding micro-entrepreneurs across Pakistan who have been financially successful and made a difference to the communities they belong to. FINCA Microfinance Bank Ltd. shared 17 success stories of our clients as applicants for the awards.
Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) shortlisted candidates from a total of 280 applicants for transparency. The 23 shortlisted applicants then underwent a rigorous assessment process. Among the shortlisted participants, 3 nominees from FINCA Microfinance Bank received tremendous accolades and nationwide recognition. Mr. Rashid Ali, from Faisalabad, received National Winners Shield and PKR 220,000 prize. Ms. Sultana Aslam received Regional Winners Shield and PKR 150,000. FINCA Microfinance Bank’s Loan officer Mr. Azhar Rasheed also received Regional Winner Shield and PKR 30,000 prize money.
